Product Description

Freeze Protection

Outdoor Water Solutions Windmill Freeze Control is an excellent product if there is a considerable distance between the windmill and the edge of the pond. When the air is compressed, the condensation can accumulate in the pipeline. It is common in the winter months that the condensation freezes, and as a result, it can stop the windmill. The Freeze Control makes it possible to avoid such a situation. The line pressure is constantly being monitored, and if the line begins to freeze, the control valve will open and feed ethanol alcohol, or rubbing alcohol into the line. After the ice melts, the valve closes, and the windmill can operate without any issues. This product is especially useful if an air windmill is not located next to the pond. This way, you won’t have to worry that the airline won’t be open in case of bad weather. When the condensation freezes, the freeze control unit releases some alcohol (isopropyl, which can be acquired in farm, pond, or feed stores) into the line, which melts the ice.

Installation Instructions:

Install the 90-degree elbow to the top of the freeze control tank. It is advised that Teflon tape be used for all fittings. Attach the brass hose barb to the left side of the pressure relief valve. Attach the pressure relief valve that is included to the bottom of the freeze control tank. Attach the tank to the tower legs approximately 4' off of the ground. After that, connect the airline coming down the windmill tower into the left side of the pressure relief valve. Then, it is time to attach the included 6" piece of tubing to the right side of the PRV, as shown. Next, attach the poly "T" and connect the other two hoses as shown (the 24" piece going to the top 90-degree elbow).

It is recommended that the tank be filled  1⁄2 - 2/3 full of 95% proof Isopropyl Alcohol that is available at the farm, pond, feed, or veterinary supply stores. If you want to install a freeze control system on a windmill or electric aerator with multiple airlines and air stones, it is advised that the freeze control unit be attached to the windmill and then plugged into the system before the lines are split. If it is to be installed on an electric aerator, it can be attached to a fence post, piece of rebar, or any other mounting stake.
