Product Description
Most pond aeration problems start at the bottom. Organic matter settles, oxygen levels drop near the sediment, and that's where algae, muck, and fish stress originate. Surface aerators and fountains help, but they don't address what's happening in the deeper water column. Bottom-up aeration does.
The Scott Solar Subsurface Aeration System sits above the pond on a pole-mounted enclosure and pushes compressed air down to diffusers on the pond floor. The diffusers release fine bubbles that rise through the water column, pulling oxygen-depleted water upward and circulating the pond from bottom to top. It's the most effective aeration method for ponds over 6 feet deep, and it runs on solar with no battery bank needed.
The Standard system uses one solar panel, one brushless compressor, and two diffusers — handles ponds up to 2.5 acres. The XL uses two panels, two compressors, and four diffusers, and scales to ponds up to 5 acres. Both systems rate to 30+ feet of depth.
The compressor is brushless — worth understanding why that matters. Most inexpensive solar aerators use brushed motors that wear out in 2-4 years. The brushless compressor here is rated for over three times the service life. It's also quieter: under 65 dB at 6 feet.
The enclosure is fiberglass-reinforced and powder-coated — it doesn't rust, and the locking hasps keep the control section secure. Pressure gauges are liquid-filled stainless steel.
For 24-hour coverage — nights, cloudy stretches, storms — the optional Battery Backup Module is available. Adding it to the Standard system upgrades the panel configuration to two panels. The battery bank provides up to three days of continuous operation without sun.
A vertical 3-inch (3.5" OD) galvanized pole, approximately 10 feet in length, is required for mounting but not included.
Key Features
- Bottom-up aeration — diffusers sit on the pond floor and push fine bubbles upward; most effective method for deep ponds (30+ feet rated depth)
- No batteries required — the base system runs directly off solar panels during daylight hours
- Two system sizes — Standard (2 diffusers) for ponds up to 2.5 acres; XL (4 diffusers) for ponds up to 5 acres
- Brushless compressor — over 3x the service life of brushed motors; the component that most solar aeration systems fail on
- Under 65 dB at 6 feet — quieter than most residential solar aerators; integrated sound reduction system
- Optional Battery Backup Module — extends operation through nights, storms, and cloudy periods (up to 3 days without sun)
- Pole-mount enclosure — fiberglass-reinforced housing that doesn't rust; weather-rated and lockable
- 2-year warranty on all components — covers the compressor, enclosure hardware, diffusers, and electronics
- 100% factory tested — every unit tested before it ships
- American-made components — brushless compressor, high-efficiency solar modules, pressure gauges, and ball valves
