    Louder than expected
Unit seems well constructed and was fairly simple to assemble. Unit works well and putt putts along on minimal light while really generating air in full light! Unit has no insulation and can be heard operating at some distance. Wish it were insulated or a little quieter. Generally very pleased after two weeks in service.

WOULD YOU MAKE A DEFUSER THAT WOULD RUN OFF OF A SEPTIC AEROBIC ELECTRIC AIR PUMP.... I NEED TO AERATE MY STOCK TANK AND WAS WONDERING IF THE SOLAR AIR PUMP SUPPLING THE DEFUSER WOULD HAVE THE SAME PSI (OR WHAT DOES IT NEED PSI WISE?) , THINKING OF RUNNING A HOSE FROM A PUMP IN MY BARN TO THE TANK , BUT NEED DEFUSER...
    1 Answer
I would say yes those compressors used for aerating septic systems are linear compressors. They are suitable for some applications, however they lose most of their volume and pressure when the depth of the water exceeds about 7'. For deeper ponds a rocking piston or rotary vane style compressor would be more suitable.

I just bought a new home with a 1/2-3/4 acre pond that I want to add aeration to (see pic). Does this unit have a battery that runs the system when there is significant cloud cover and at night, or does it only work/run during periods of daylight? I'm not familiar with using solar systems, but am looking for something that I can set up without running electrical wiring. Thanks.
    1 Answer
This unit will only run while the sun is out, it is direct drive with no battery back up. When it is night or too cloudy this unit will not operate. We do have systems with a battery back up, in fact once the battery is fully charged you can get 3 days of operation with no sunlight. Have a look at it her: http://www.livingwateraeration.com/sopopoae1ac.html

Can the system run all year long or does it need to be shut down in freezing temperatures?
    1 Answer
This unit can run all year long and it can be used as a deicer in the winter time, leaving a nice size hole in the ice where the diffusers are located.

Was contemplating adding a second diffuser to help with aeration in my 1/3 acre pond (9-10 ft depth). Can the DD solar 2 handle that? would you recommend it?
    1 Answer
To add a second diffuser, I would recommend this system: https://www.livingwateraeration.com/aeddso8elco.html

My pond is in the 1/2 acre range and I would like to establish a solar powered aeration system. The pond is 15 ft deep at the deepest and the DD Solar 2 seems to be the choice that I would make. It is described as a turnkey system but I wonder what else I will need when the packages arrive and I would like to get it up and running.
    1 Answer
Yes this would be a good choice and it is indeed a turnkey system. It comes complete with 100' of airline, however if you need to go farther then it would be easy to order additional from us.

Hi, can you please tell me the dimensions of the solar panels (both together). thanks
    1 Answer
The solar panels are 58.5" x 26.5". So it has 2 panels so combined it would be 117" x 53" The kit also includes an 8' mounting pole that you will have to bury 3' in the ground.

What is the maximum depth that this compressor can deliver air (assuming good solar exposure)? Do you have a chart showing depths below water vs. air output?
    1 Answer
We do not have a chart like that but the maximum depth is 15'. As long as you stay above that you should not have very much pressure loss.
