Just like flowers need water to flourish, an Otterbine fountain needs a power cable to function. However, since it is not included in the package, you need to buy it separately. Remember that the fountains have to be purchased with at least 50' power cable, and in 25' increments.

Some people might want to use another manufacturer's power cable instead of the Ottorbine one, and while it is possible, it is not recommended. First of all, it is not safe - do you want to be held responsible if an accident happens? Probably not. It will also affect performance - without proper power being delivered to the aerator, the product can malfunction or even not work at all.

All the Otterbine power cables are made out of a special rubber material called thermoset. When it is exposed to direct heat, it becomes hard or, if you prefer, it sets. The important thing to remember is that once you set it, it cannot be re-softened, even if it will come in contact with heat.

Another benefit of using this material is that it is abrasion, sunlight, ozone, oil and chemical resistant as well as flame retardant and water submersible. After all, it was designed with outdoor and industrial design in mind.
