  • These surface aerators are the perfect solution for aerating shallow ponds 6 feet deep or less.

All Kasco pond aerators are self-contained, lightweight units that float at the surface with a single power cord. These reliable units are the highest oxygen producing aerators we offer! These aerators are designed for maximum pumping volume and circulation.
Auburn University has performed independent product testing and has found that Kasco's aerators’ SAE (Standard Aeration Efficiency) is up to 3.0 lbs. of oxygen per horsepower per hour of operation, making them some of the most efficient and effective units available.

The Kasco ½ HP pond aerator is perfect for small (1/2 acre or less) and shallow (from as little as 15’’ up to 6 feet in depth) ponds containing fresh or salt water.

    Product Description:

    • This kit includes a motor unit, a power cable and a float. An optional control panel is available on our website, as well as an optional bottom screen.
    • Operation: Our Kasco ½ HP Pond Aerator is a surface aeration system that, through the use of a submersed motor, creates a crown of water at the surface of the lake by pushing water into the air using an open propeller. When in motion, droplets of water absorb oxygen from the atmosphere, and return to the body of water, transferring in the meantime oxygen from the air into the pond. The motion created by the motor mixes and agitates the water, spreading oxygenated water through the pond.
    • Heavy duty motor: This single phase motor uses ½ HP, and draws as little as 120V. It includes a thermal overload protection, and two long life bearings.
    • Continuous operation: With a 1/2 horse power surface aerator made in USA, this ½ HP Kasco Surface Aerator (or 2400AF aerator) can run 24 hours a day. You will also have the possibility to put it in a timer if you do not wish to see it continuously in use.
    • Enhanced benefits: This aeration system benefits the aquatic ecosystem into which you are installing it. It is ideal for aeration of ponds that are both small (up to 1/2 acre) and shallow (6’maximum depth).
    • Easy to install and completely safe: The motor comes with 50’ feet of power cable approved for underwater usage, and a single piece float made of U.V. resistant high density thermoplastic.
    • In addition, Kasco assures the customer that “A coated stainless steel cage/ propeller guard catches large debris and assist the unit in reducing the likelihood of clogging while allowing for maximum water flow in the unit”.
    Typical Applications Include:
    • Commercial aquaculture
    • Agricultural ponds
    • Industrial plants
    • Municipal waste water ponds
    • Backyard ponds

This aerator is perfect for preventing fish kills and low oxygen levels in large ponds. Remember it comes with a great 2-year warranty on the motor!

Our pond is shaped like a pear. It is 100 ft. long. The width begins at 50 ft. and gradually ends at 30 ft. It is approximately 4 ft. deep. We have a ton of elodea and algae that grows. We live in Pennsylvania where winters can get cold. Running the aerator in the winter would be ideal to keep the pond oxygenated. Is the Kasco 1/2 HP Pond Aerator adequate? We were also interested in the Shallow Pond Aerator for ponds up to 3/8 acre. Item # PA6SW. We have a barn where the pump would be safely housed but would require 100 ft. of weighted tube. We liked this option in case we needed a diffuser due to the length of the pond. Just not sure... Which would work best for our purposes?
    1 Answer
The shallow pond aerator would be a better option for running during the winter. If you are in the south like us you can leave these units running year round but if you are in a climate that gets cold enough for the pond to freeze then you will want to remove this entire unit for the winter time. Diffused aerators can run all winter long and can even act as a de-icer for the winter time, leaving a large sized whole in the ice.

We have a 1/2 acre pond that requires constant attention. We routinely have alge and there is a lot of muck in the pond. We have only owned this for 3 years and it was neglected prior to our purchase. What do you recommend for aeration?
    1 Answer
That really depends on your maximum depth if it is less than 6 feet you can use this Kasco 1/2 HP aerator. However, if you are deeper than 6 feet you may want to consider one of our diffused aeration system for best results. Here is one that I would recommend, the first link is our 1 acre kit with a cabinet and the second link is the same kit with our deluxe cabinet:

Does this aerator come with a screen.
    1 Answer
Mike, the price you see above the add to cart button is without the optional screen. You can add the bottom screen with mesh for an additional $180 (you can order over the phone to upgrade 1-888-775-2402). I would be curious to know your application because for use in most ponds a screen is not needed. The pump is strong enough to shred most small debris such as small stick and leaves should they come near the motor. In special applications where there is lots of garbage and debris you can opt to purchase the screen. This is typically in uses outside of just ponds and fish tanks, usually in industrial type applications. You can see the screen inside the manual here on page 3, 5 & 9 it includes a fine mesh screen that wraps around the bottom screen.
