The air compressor sits on shore and pumps air out through the hose to the air diffuser located on the bottom of the pond. The result is thousands of tiny bubbles rushing out of the diffuser to the pond surface, creating circulation and providing aeration. There are several advantages to using diffused aeration kits instead of surface aerator:

1.Electric motor is on shore, not in the water,

2.Air diffusers lay on the bottom, ensuring aeration of entire pond from bottom to top, regardless of depth size,

3.With proper sizing, tubing lengths up to 2000' can be achieved for ponds without electricity nearby.

All motors are designed for continuous duty operation and are oil-less for low maintenance. Periodic cleaning of air filter and replacement of diaphragm and gasket every few years is all that is necessary. Air stones can be cleaned (if necessary) in muriatic acid to restore like-new performance. We can build much larger systems or alter these kits to fit you specific needs. Please call for assistance. Kits include everything needed for installation and operation except for tubing weights. Tubing is buoyant and requires a 5# weight every 6-8' sink, or use optional self-weighted tubing. Fountans vs. Diffused Aeration - Which is Better? Fountains are a popular choice when decorative aerator is desired. Fountains splash the surface of the pond and help control surface algae and duckweed, but do not aerate down to the bottom of deep ponds. Diffused aeration is the best way to aerate deep ponds. Because the air diffuser lays on the bottom you achieve total pond aeration
from top to bottom regardless of depth.

Aerators, Pond Aerator

Use a pond aerator as a choice to oxygenate your pond.  Aeration is vital to maintaining a healthy pond, lake and water garden.  You can accomplish proper aeration through the use of an aerator, creating waterfalls or fountains.  Without the use of one of these units, your pond will become stagnant & smelly.  You will also have a build up of algae.  If you have fish, they will most likely die unless it is a very large pond or lake.  In areas where there are harsh winters, use an aerator in addition to a pond de-icer that keeps an area of your pond from freezing (particularly for small backyard ponds).  This open area allows toxic gases caused from decomposing organic matter, fish wastes, sludge, leaves, etc. to escape from the pond as well as allows an entrance for fresh oxygen to enter.  Choose the best aerator suited for your ponds needs below.  In addition to a proper size aerator, every pond needs beneficial bacteria to break down organic matter within the pond such as decaying leaves, fish wastes, etc. Every established pond already has beneficial bacteria but benefits from adding more.  For large ponds use our PlanktoniX™ product and for small ponds use our Microbe Lift product.  Both products are totally natural products and are completely safe for swimming, fish, wild life, etc.  They are not chemicals but natural biological strains of good types of bacteria that are responsible for reducing algae and breaking down organic matter.  They also break down toxic ammonia from fish wastes into harmless nitrates.  You can find both of them here.  By having a proper size aerator and adding beneficial bacteria, your pond will be much healthier, clearer, oxygenated and more enjoyable to you.)

Linear Compressors - Extremely energy efficient, silent and reliable compressors.  Low pressure capability prohibits use in deep applications, but these pumps are great for shallow (less than 6-8') ponds, tanks, aquariums and many other applications.

Diaphragm Compressor - High pressure, low volume compressors widely used for deep pond aeration and destratification.

Rotary Vane Compressors - Medium volume, medium pressure compressors ideal for aeration of larger ponds and lakes less than 18' deep.
