Operation: Our Kasco 1 HP Pond Aerator is a surface aeration system that, through the use of a submersed motor, create a crown of water at the surface of the lake by pushing water into the air using an open propeller. When in motion, droplets of water absorb oxygen from the atmosphere, and return to the body of water, transferring in the meantime oxygen from the air into the pond. The motion created by the motor mixes and agitates the water, spreading oxygenated water through the pond.
Heavy duty motor: This single phase motor uses 1 HP, and draws as little as 120V. It includes a thermal overload protection, and two long life bearings.
Continuous operation: With a 1 horse power surface aerator made in USA, this Kasco Surface Aerator (or AF4400 aerator) can run 24 hours a day. You will also have the possibility to put it in a timer if you do not wish to see it continuously in use.

How do these aerators work, and what is required to install them?
Does it just float on the surface, or is a platform required?
Does it recirculate water from the pond (and if so, is there a filter to keep aquatic life from getting sucked in?), or does it pump air into the water? Thanks!
These aerators work by pumping water at a high rate and splash it back on the surface. The motor is in the water and is suspended under a large donut shaped float. The float is kept in place with mooring ropes.
They do not come with a screen but a screen is available for purchase for it. Give us a call and we can get you a quote on that.
It does recirculate water from the pond, it pulls water from underneath the unit up to a max of about 5 feet. It takes water from the bottom and splashes it back on the surface.
The motor, float and cable is included if you look above there is options to pick longer cords.
What is the electrical usage on a 1hp and a 2 hp pond aerator?
You would be looking at an approx. cost of $92 per month for the 1 HP and $147 for the 2 HP. This of course would be if they were operating 24 hours per day.
If you were to run the units only 12 hours per day obviously you would cut those numbers in half.
